If you’re struggling to find things to brighten your drab and drizzly Monday, we might have just the ticket. Scandi fashion brand Ganni (yep, the brains behind those epic checked midi dresses and chunky Chelsea boots you’re seeing *everywhere* on the ‘gram) and iconic American denim brand Levis have announced that they’ve teamed up – for the second time – to release a collection of timeless denim jeans, denim jackets, denim dresses and tops. And they’ll all be available to shop this Wednesday.
Following on from their previous upcycled, rental-only GANNI & Levi’s® “Love Letter” collection that launched last August, the new collaboration plays off the brands’ mutual appreciation for one another – think Ganni’s playful designs (Peter Pan collars and fun yet timeless prints galore) combined with Levi’s iconic cuts. Plus, each piece features the unique Levi’s® x GANNI back patch.
But while the collection itself is the perfect marriage of each brand’s signature styles and hero shapes – but that’s not actually the most exciting part. The fact that it’s sustainable is. The new collection celebrates both brands’ efforts towards sustainable fashion, with every piece crafted from cottonized hemp. Hemp generally requires less water and fewer pesticides in cultivation than conventionally grown cotton, and the hemp blended into these garments comes from rain-fed hemp crops, which reduces water usage even further. Impressive, right? This cottonized hemp is then treated in a way that softens the fibre, so every piece in the collection is comfortable and indistinguishable from bog-standard cotton. So. Good.
Karyn Hillman, Chief Product Officer at Levi’s said of the collection: “We’re huge fans of GANNI’s work and this collaboration was an opportunity to inject their signature and effortless femininity into Levi’s iconic denim, using next level sustainable materials with cottonized hemp. It’s been amazing working with the GANNI team, we both share a passion for authenticity, originality, and sustainability. Ultimately, we set out to inspire authentic self-expression – creating unique and easy pieces that people fall in love with, and wear again and again and again.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
